Hump Day Updates
The 25 Things About Me on Facebook? Love it! I'm learning so many new, fascinating facts about people. Whether it's a fear of birds or a secret flute talent, I think it's wonderful when people share their dirty little secrets through technology. Keep it up!I got amazing feedback re: my 'Bama experience. Travelling for work may seem like the most exotic activity ever (or so I used to think), but it isn't. See, here's the thing: aside from big cities like NY, Boston, Chicago, LA, etc., most "major" American cities look a whole lot like Worcester. There's usually a tiny concentration of buildings dubbed the "business district" that's surrounded by a metropolis of single story office buildings, chain restaurants, and shuttered factories. They're ok, but there's nothing really charming, unique, or memorable about them. Shhhhh.....don't tell the natives.....Since I'm virtual, and therefore don't have a commute to work, I'm kind of enjoying the snow. Now that I ditched the rear wheel drive Crossfire for an all-wheel drive vehicle, I love the fact that I can back the car out of my spot without shoveling. Best of all, the maintenance guys come around with sidewalk plows to dig out my spot once I move my car. After spending 25 years living with my parents where I literally hauled thousands of pounds of snow, having a plow guy is an unheard of luxury. Now if only I could do something about my heating bill.I'm off to VA Beach on Friday to have lunch with a prospect, then I'm hanging in Charlotte for the weekend. My friends promised to take me to a restaurant that features "low country cusine". Low country cuisine includes, but is not limited to, fried green tomatoes, chicken fried steak, fried okra, and "New England Style Fried Trout" (whatever that is). Notice a theme here? Only a Southerner could take something healthy (eg: a tomato) and deep fry it into some kind of regional delicacy. I can only hope that they have a low-calorie option on the menu like chicken fried garden salad.Did I mention it may hit 50F in the mid-Atlantic? Oh, ok. Now I did :).
