Fountain Diet Coke may be my all-time favorite drink (yes, even more than Guinness and scotch). If I'm at a restaurant that offers free Diet Coke refills I'll generally drink my weight in the cold, carbonated beverage. Mama T - you got nothing on me in the fountain soda department! However, I hardly drink Diet Coke at home because I really dislike the taste of canned Diet Coke. It's got way too much carbon in it and tastes like a completely different drink than the fountain variety.

I've got a quasi-blue print of how I'd like to install a soda in my very own home and it goes something like this: I would like to drill through the lip of my current sink and snake a fountain gun into the place where a soap dispenser would usually be. I would then install a CO2 cartridge and Diet Coke syrup under my sink. When I hit the gun the syrup would link up with the water that is currently running from the sink, hit the CO2 cartridge for carbonation, letting the end product run through the gun and into my glass.

There are two problems with my plan: 1. I need to find a way to get the water cold enough so I don't have to drink lukewarm soda (I could always add ice I suppose) and 2. All of the gun systems I've seen on eBay are about three large.

Which makes me have to ask myself how much fountain soda at 7-11 I could buy for $3,000.

If anyone has ever done this type of project or know someone who has I would be very curious to know how it came out.
